Successful people share certain success characteristics. 

Successful people are focused on their personal development.

Successful people are focused on the positive growth of those around them.

Personal Growth

beyond NLP

Personal growth starts with NLP, but having a greater understanding of what makes a person become successful can be gained by observing others, reading biographies of people you admire, and understanding some basic principles in the art of success.

Lead By Example

Choose to lead by example.  They know that by choosing the course of action that they can set a positive example for others to follow and be inspired by.

Find Role Models

Regardless of your pursuits there is someone who has explored at least part of that path.  By choosing the right people to study you can learn from their successes, you can also gain forewarning of any risks that you may encounter.    A mentor can be a close friend or a person across the globe from you that chooses to share their world with you.

Make Smart Choices

There are many choices in life.  Our instincts are designed to show us the best path.  When you feel confident in your choices then they are very likely to be taking you in the right direction, if you feel doubt and hesitation then you may take time to determine what the source of anxiety is and if it is a warning or simply internal resistance which should be overcome.

There are some clues as to when you are making a good choice.
The outcomes are likely to be beneficial and will help those around you, as well as yourself. 
The outcome is unlikely to affect others negatively.
The choice will make you stronger and healthier or increase your ability to help others.

Set Goals

Goal setting is the number one common trait of successful people.  A successful mind set is one that anticipates outcomes of courses of action and sets goals to achieve those outcomes.  By knowing your destination, the steps to that destination become clear and easy to obtain.   It is far easier to journey on a well marked road, with a map at your side, then to blindly set off in a random direction through the wilderness.   With goal setting the destination becomes clear and a path can be followed or made to reach the destination you desire.

Healthy Lifestyles

 

Exercise

One of the most significant choices you can make in aligning your sense of self and sense of direction towards success is to choose a healthy lifestyle.   By exercising and motivating yourself to exercise you will be healthier and stronger.

Food is Fuel

The right dietary choices are important.  Food is fuel.  Some indulgence is practical, but over indulgence in foods which make you sluggish can only make your goals harder to achieve.   By eating foods that are close to their natural form you will be providing your body with optimal energy and fueling your mind in a pattern of success.  Dietary goals can be accomplished like other goals, by setting a destination and learning to appreciate the goodness of whole foods while teaching yourself to reject substances which cloud your mind and slow you down.

Visualization

Visualization of attained goals that are in your destination path allows you to focus your mind and body on reaching those goals.  Visualization exercises such as meditation, as well as watching motivational videos and listening to motivational audio sources will reinforce your own internal desires to reach those goals and spur you to action.  The clearer your sense of possibility and attainment the easier it is to picture yourself achieving the goals you target.

Visualization exercises are a powerful tool to create or reinforce a positive mind set.

Successful people share many traits, but clarity of vision is among the most important.  By working actively to keep yourself motivated and your mental picture clear you will find that you are able to achieve spectacular things.
