Neuro-linguistic programming is known by the acronym NLP.   Drawing on deep and powerful research into the ways people think and process information, nlp can have amazing effects both on how others view you, and how you view and interract with the world.

NLP and the Subconscious

NLP strategies are designed to shortcut the conscious thought level processes, and bypass filters and defenses that are normally held by the conscious mind and directly work on the subconscious underlying structures of thought.   Techniques used can be used on yourself and on others to create a mindset that is conducive to obtaining your objectives.

Language is about word, tone, touch and body language.  Ultimately it is a method of translating symbols to others about your perspective and codifying it in a way that the listener will accept.  Strong communicators do this effectively and naturally, and are quickly able to create rapport or “a connection” with whoever they are talking to.    Many people do this instinctively, some do it exceptionally well and others have to become consciously aware of the mechanisms involved.

Neuro linguistic programming is essentially a refined version of the techniques that effective people use to build relationships, create mindsets, convey images and literally program themselves and others.

How NLP works

Essentially each of us is software driven, acting out the scripts that are given to us by our brains.  If we were lucky enough to have received the right training, either by learning from those around us or by seeking out the knowledge and learning the necessary techniques then we are in a better position to apply these skills to our day to day lives.   If the programming, from our friends, contacts, parents and self-teaching is strong then we are much more likely to be socially and financially successful than someone who has accumulated incorrect or conflicting information.  

Ultimately the science of NLP is about understanding the symbols of communication and learning to manipulate them.   Symbols are powerful tools, whether dealing with science, personal relations, rousing speeches or video imagery.   To create something it is important to understand the symbols that describe what you are trying to build.  If you have the proper conceptual framework you can build anything you desire, if you lack the ability to frame an idea in symbols then it is challenging to envision what you are creating.   A building starts as a vision by an architect, a city through the vision of many.  When plans are established, a goal and a directive sent and instruction communicated through symbols, the vision can manifest as a real and tangible structure.

The same is true of our thoughts, our desires and our reality.  By mastering the symbols of the mind and communication we enable ourselves to create the world we desire.    NLP gives those skills to those who have not been prepared in that area, and refines the skills of those who have some instinctual knowledge.    By mastering NLP you master your thought process and your world and you can connect the symbols you need to accomplish your goals.
